Figuring out what to eat before your spin class or any intense workout can be a challenge. You want something that will fuel your ride but won’t make you feel sick during class. You want something healthy that is in line with your fitness goals but something that will give you a boost of energy.
Carbohydrates are key when it comes to fueling your ride. Finding the carbohydrate that is right for you may take some experimenting. If you are just starting to get into your workout routine or if you are new to indoor cycling, you will probably want to start with small portions to see how your body will tolerate it. We recommend eating your snack about an hour before your ride so you have time to digest and the carbohydrates can get into your system. It is also important to stay away from foods that are high in fat, protein, and refined sugar.
Here are some of our favorite foods to eat before class:
Oatmeal
Cereal with small amount of milk
Energy Bars
Fruit
Whole Grain Bread With Peanut Butter or Almond Butter
